I think one of the worst things you can do when you’re writing a marketing piece, especially when it’s for something like a powerwashing business, lawn care, housecleaning business, or any other type of one-man show kind of business is to make it sound too formal.
One of the easiest tricks to increase the readability and relate-ability of your copy is to “write like you talk”.
It does a couple of things. First, it makes your piece much more readable. Secondly, you sound a heck of a lot friendlier.
So next time you’re ready to advertise to your potential customers, give it a try. Then read it out loud. It works.
